Carla Fracci dies in Milan. Her name in the world of dance is synonymous with lightness and elegance.
The New York Times in 1981 called her “Absolute Prima Ballerina”.
“Carla Fracci is lighter than air, lighter than a sigh” as one of the many reviews reports.
In her career she has danced on the most prestigious stages around the world alongside the most prestigious icons of international dance.
She is the most famous Italian classical dancer in the world.
Carla studied at the Teatro alla Scala dance school with Vera Volkova and other choreographers, graduating in 1954. After two years she became a soloist dancer, then principal, (prima ballerina) in 1958. Between the late fifties and during the seventies she danced with some foreign companies , such as the London Festival Ballet, Sadler’s Wells Ballet, now known as the Royal Ballet, the Stuttgart Ballet and the Royal Swedish Ballet. Since 1967 she has been a guest dancer at the American Ballet Theater. Her notoriety is linked to the interpretations of romantic and dramatic roles, such as Giselle, La Sylphide, Giulietta, Swanilda, Francesca da Rimini, Medea. He danced with various dancers, including Rudolf Nureyev, Vladimir Vasiliev, Henning Kronstam, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Marinel Stefanescu, Alexander Godunov, Erik Bruhn, Gheorghe Iancu, Roberto Bolle. Carla Fracci has been married since 1964 to the director Beppe Menegatti, with whom she had a son, Francesco.

In suo nome è sinonimo di Danza di eleganza di leggerezza.
Il New York times nel 1981 l’ha definita Prima Ballerina Assoluta.
“Carla Fracci è più leggera dell’aria, più lieve di un sospiro” cosi la definiva una delle tante recensioni.
Nella sua carriera ha danzato sui palchi più prestigiosi di tutto il mondo al fianco delle più prestigiose icone della Danza internazionale.
E’ la ballerina classica italiana più nota al mondo.
Carla studia alla scuola di ballo del Teatro alla Scala con Vera Volkova ed altri coreografi, diplomandosi nel 1954. Dopo due anni diviene danzatrice solista, quindi prima ballerina nel 1958. Tra la fine degli anni cinquanta e durante gli anni settanta danza con alcune compagnie straniere, quali il London Festival Ballet, il Sadler’s Wells Ballet, ora noto come Royal Ballet, lo Stuttgart Ballet e il Royal Swedish Ballet. Dal 1967 è ballerina ospite dell’American Ballet Theatre. La sua notorietà si lega alle interpretazioni di ruoli romantici e drammatici, quali Giselle, La Sylphide, Giulietta, Swanilda, Francesca da Rimini, Medea.
